Scream Chopper

Scream chopper is a take on the classic Flash helicopter game. Except instead of clicking your mouse you make a noise into your microphone.  There is something very special about controlling something with sound. I like it when people stretch their comfort zones, so naturally I like making people yell and make strange noises.

Built in p5.js.

You can try the game out below.  Make noise until the blue circle goes away and the game will start. You can set your sensitivity in the top left corner. https://www.wirelesstaco.com/dev/p5/screamchopper/

Interactive Table

This project was an exploration of a simple game with goal of creating a moment of play.  I gave myself two challenges when creating this project.  The first challenge was to build a game that lived on a single  ws2812b LED strip.  The second was that each player would only have a single button as input.  I debuted the table at a show for an immersive theater company I am part of. The table lived as a pre show and after show attraction.

I did the programming and built all the electronics using an Arduino and a friend of mine took care of the physical construction of the table.

Interactive Vest

I love getting people to play, especially when they are not expecting it. I built a vest that I wear that turns me into the game board. I stand between two people. Player one faces my front while player 2 faces my back.  Player 2 will shout the color the appears on my back and player 1 will then press that colors button on my chest.

Built with Ardunio

Grood Actual show – RGB Shift Visuals

For this project  Show Party(an immersive theater group)  was tasked with activating Grood’s(A Band) actual show. We activated every song throughout the show, Ranging from puppets, dance and story telling.

I built this activation using Touchdesigner. I attached a 32 foot Powered USB extension to a Web cam that I carried out into the audience during the performance. The visuals projected behind the dancer have a 3 channel color split on a time delay per channel. So when you move, each of your color channels move at a different rate.

Clown

I am a clown. It’s a beautiful world to explore.  There was a hole in the Chicago clown community that needed to be filled and there are too many beautiful performers in Chicago for that hole to remain. So to help fill the gap and build community I now run a monthly Clown Jam with the goal of developing work and community.

BestBuy Intel

On two 9 foot tall totems there was an intel robot that the user could control by moving their body around and could trigger animations by discovering certain poses. The experience was built with the Xbox Kinect and Unity 3d.

GITHUB – Couch Games

During the closing event party at Github Universe this year I curated a set of couch games for people to play and enjoy. I was responsible  for all things technical. Johan Sebastian’s Joust was the crowd favorite.
